Requirements Review

In the beginning, BlackPing was created as part of a pet project. It fulfilled two purposes: getting my feet wet in regards to BlackBerry development and allowing me to use Ping.fm with more ease than the mobile website provided. The application was created and released and it's popularity grew beyond my wildest expectations. Now, it's time to take a step back and develop the application in a more professional manner. To get this started I created a list of requirements. Feel free to add your own using the comments section.

This list was created from thoughts rolling through my head and from items posted to GetSatisfaction. If I missed anything or if you have anything to add, please post them to the comments section.

• Multiple Connection Modes, auto-select
• Multiple Accounts
• Setup Wizard
• "Ping This" - email, browser, photo, video, calendar.
• GPS - myloc.me
• Definitive Device support. WILL work with OS x.x.x.x running on Pearl/Storm/etc
• Email log
• Update Check and Download
• Default ”Ping My"
• URL Shortener - bit.ly user account or anonymous.
• Cached Pings - store pings and send when device re-gains signal.

Next Step

After the requirements have been reviewed by the user community and approved by Schwenk Consulting a roadmap will be created. This will help set expectations when it comes to BlackPing.
